Motor Vehicle Maintenance
Aim of the course
This is an industry recognised qualification that aims to develop work-related skills and knowledge of different areas of the Motor Vehicle sector. Units have been specifically chosen to provide a useful and relevant insight in order to allow learners to make informed career decisions.
What will the course involve?
The qualification combines a mixture of knowledge and practical tasks to ensure that the learners have the necessary skills and understanding to meet the requirements of the industry. Final assessment of the qualification will consist of a portfolio of evidence.
Course content?
The course consists of several different components, such as: Engine Lubrication Systems; Principles of Vehicle Body & Interior Cleaning; Engine Cooling Systems; Braking Systems; and Vehicle Wheels & Tyre Systems. Learners will be able to work on a range of different engines to strip and reassemble. They will learn how four-stroke engines operate and have opportunities to extend their learning in preparation for Level 2.
What qualifications do I need?
The course requires no formal qualifications, but an interest in the automotive industry is important. You will be asked to carry out an Initial Assessment to determine the support you require to be successful on this course.
What are my options after I finish the course?
Students can look to progress onto further Motor Vehicle courses, such as Level 2; an external apprenticeship; or employment.
