CTP understand that sitting in a classroom learning is something many young people find difficult. In fact for many it’s been an uphill struggle.

However, it is important that basic literacy and numeracy skills are obtained to manage the world of work.

Our 16-19 Programme and Specialist Post-16 Programme includes Functional Skills maths to support numeracy and Functional Skills English to support literacy.

The nationally recognised Edexcel (Pearsons) Functional Skills courses are based around topics relevant to everyday life and essential for employment.

We offer a range of levels from Entry Level to Level 2.

Students are assessed before they start the course to ensure the right level is offered.

This ensures that students do not feel overwhelmed and are working at a level that suits their ability. They can then progress at a pace that suits them.

Many students do start their journey at Entry Level. However, we find once a student is working at a suitable level, a fixed mindset around English and maths starts to grow and they can progress onto the next level.
