Aim of the course
This qualification provides a range of introductory skills, as well as core knowledge, relevant to health and care, alongside generic employability skills which are needed both in the health and care sector and across other sectors. It is anticipated that it will be of specific relevance to young people interested in a career in the health and care sector who are not ready for a Level 2 qualification.
What will the course involve?
This course is 100% theory based.
Course content?
Students will have the opportunity to gain knowledge in many areas of the health and social care sector including, time-management, customer service skills, disability awareness, human growth and development, healthy lifestyles, safeguarding, communication, provision and roles in the sector and values and principles. This lecture based theory class allows for students to extend their own learning with group discussions and interactive activities.
What qualifications do I need?
This one year, one day a week course (14-16) requires no formal qualifications, but an expected functional skills E3 and above is desirable, as is a strong desire to work in the health and social care sector.
What are my options after I finish the course?
Students can look to progress onto a full-time course, a level 2 certficiate or an external apprenticeship.
